OPTIMIST/PESSIMIST
DESIGN: WERKSTATTE CARL AUBOCK VIENNA 1950
This delightful sculpture named Optimist/Pessimist was originally designed by Werkstatte Carl Auböck in Vienna, Austria in the 1950's. This brilliantly worked, whimsical sculpture, can be positioned with arm up or down to be the optimist or the pessimist! Typical of many of Auböck sculptures, the dark metal character has been created out of patinated solid brass which will get better with time . This sculpture is particularly iconic because it became the logo for the famous designer, as one of his most popular and celebrated designs.
Please note, that Aubock pieces are made by hand, each one will differ slightly and be unique, as they all have their own character. Imperfections such as small scratches and/or minor nicks on the surface of this item are evidence of the handmade production process and should not be considered defects.
