Design: Carl Aubock II Werkstätte Carl Auböck, Vienna
This whimsical sculpture is made of patinated solid brass with a polished brass stick and is handmade in Austria in the original Auböck workshop (Vienna, Bernardgasse). Now run by fourth generation Carl Auböck IV. Carl Auböck II (1900-1957) is one of the most extraordinary figures of Austrian modernism. After working as an apprentice bronze worker and engraver for his family business in the early 1900′s he went on to be a student at the Bauhaus in Weimar. Once graduated he took over his father’s workshop and in the early 40′s he developed a very particular style which many consider modernist, in fact he became the face of Austrian modernism.
As with all Aubock pieces, designs are all handmade in limited issues, small variations and markings are normal.
